Service Description: This map service features an unpublished dataset that was derived from the SSURGO soil polygon dataset available from RIGIS (http://www.edc.uri.edu/rigis) by staff at the USDA NRCS Rhode Island State Office. The leaching index is a value that estimates the amount of nitrate nitrogen that passes through the soil and below a crop's root zone. Data circa 2010. This map service is published by the University of Rhode Island Environmental Data Center as part of its Rhode Island Digital Atlas initiative (http://www.edc.uri.edu/atlas).
